BRAD HARMAN BECOMES AUSTRALIA 26th MAJOR LEAGUER
22-year-old Infielder replaces fellow Aussie on Phillies?Roster
Philadelphia prides itself on being a centrepiece of American history and the birthplace of independence in the United Sates.
However the city can now attest to witnessing the conception of what will hopefully be another prestigious and long-standing legacy ?the birth of Brad Harman Major League Baseball career.
Harman, 22, is the incumbent shortstop on the Australian National Team and has experienced a remarkable rise to prominence since his standout performance for Australia at the 2007 World Cup in November last year.
Added to the 40-man roster in late 2007, Harman recently completed his first Major League Spring Training and was beginning to settle into his season in the minors before being called upon by the Philadelphia Phillies to replace reigning National League MVP Jimmy Rollins on Sunday.
The move makes Harman just the 26th Australian player to be named to an active Major League roster and puts him in elite company with some of the country greatest ever players ?the likes of David Nilsson, Graeme Lloyd and Craig Shipley to name a few.
這使得Harman成為第26位登上大聯盟的澳洲人，也讓他得以和許多澳洲的前輩並列，像是David Nilsson、Graeme Lloyd和Craig Shipley等。
Harman also becomes the 2nd alumnus of the prestigious MLBAAP (an intensive domestic training program launched in 2001 that identifies to top 50-70 Australian prospects each year) to appear in he Show?following on from Los Angeles Angels?pitcher Richard Thompson who made his MLB debut in September last year.
While news of the promotion could not be more exciting for Harman, it coincides with the bitterly disappointing revelation that fellow Aussie, outfielder Chris Snelling has again found his way to the disabled list.
Snelling, who has experienced repeated trouble with his knees throughout his career, was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Phillies?management with eft knee inflammation?less than a week after his heroic 9th inning pinch-hit home run against the Houston Astros on April 15.
It total, six Australians have now appeared in the Majors in just the first three weeks of the 2008 Major League season, with Peter Moylan (Atlanta Braves), Justin Huber (San Diego Padres) and Ryan Rowland-Smith (Seattle Mariners) joining Snelling, Thompson and Harman at the games highest level.
